please help

i wrote in and asked a question not too long ago but im still so confused my ex and i have a daughter together and i still want to be with him and hes such a confusing person he doesnt let people see or know how hes feeling most of the time hes really nice like for christmas he gave me a beautiful necklace $100.00 and he got our daughters pictures taken for me but at other times he seems like he doesnt want to talk to me so im really confused i would just come straight out and ask him but i gotta talk to him daily because of our daughter and im afraid of rejection so what should i do

He seems to be a sensitive guy, so he is probably feeling guilty about leaving you and your daughter. That would make him clam up and not want to talk to you because it reminds him of what he did.
When you talk with him be cheerful, ask how he's doing, ask a personal question now and then, for example about a sport he likes. Naturally you will be primarilly talking about your daughter.
Ask him over for his favorite home-cooked dinner every month or so. Bake some cookies to take home with him.
