Is He Fooling Around with my Head?

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Female
okay...so me and my b/f had been dating for like a year...we've been through quite a bit together...our parents are fine with us being together and all...but awhile back they started a bit 'hostile' towards him..like questioning him about weird things. He putted up with it for awhile...but than he started to act a bit colder to me and more distant. he than suddenly before the end of Sept. he messaged me and was like "i care about u, but i feel that my feelings may have changed and we had been drifting apart for awhile. So, I think it would be for the best if we weren't together." Me, being stupid and caring more about him than myself, didn't argue with him about this and just agreed. I told him that I know that my parents have been giving him pressure and all and I didn't blame him for feeling this way. he just said "okay...and i have to go now" and he just signed off...leaving me a poem about something like not all good things can stay good forever or something. we haven't talked since that day...but since he is friends with a lot of my friends they said he seems to care about me but for some reason pulled away from me. We are both currently in different Universities, first year, and i dunno...on MSN his current display picture is a cat...the cat which he said reminded him of my cat.

But the catch is...when I visited his facebook account and read through some of his public messages...on Oct. 8th....some ppl were making fun of his picture (him hugging someone's toy (i think) and 'sleeping'). The ppl were talking about how he now no longer needs a teddy bear cause he has 'megan' (all i knw is, she's an 'acquittance' of his from uni) and they said this with a =P symbol...thus it denotes teasing. He has 2 pictures of the two of them together with a group of friends in his photo album and frankly....she isn't pretty at all. He also said how university has 'been busy...but a lot of fun.' and the stupidest thing is...i can't ask him point blank cause than he'll know i've been snooping and my parents don't want me to be talking to him 'cause he's a thing of the past' as they say. i dunno...i was preparing to talk with parents about how they acted towards him cause i want to understand 'why' they were like that but now i'm not so sure if i should. I do want to get back with him, cause i do miss him and i do still love him.

But did he leave me for this....this...GIRL? i mean, sure he doesn't care too much for appearances he cares more about personality. But he once said to me and to ALL of my friends, that I was the only girl that had all the traits that he wanted...that i was so similar to him...that i was the girl of his dreams :( But he also has that picture (the one of the cat that reminded him of minez) on his display picture on MSN....so what is wrong with this? Does he still care about me? Did he leave me for this girl? What is he playing at?

RomanceClass.com Advice
You seem to be taking some of his actions personally when they are probably not.

You don't know that he left you for this girl. She just happened to come after you.

My advice is to contact him thru email or whatever and tell him how you feel and ask him how he feels about you. It is better to try a direct approach rather than wondering what is going on.

Good luck! George
p.s. it would be good to have that talk with your parents... they may try to do the same thing to you in the future.
