I kissed another man while engaged.Visitor's Question from a 21-30 year old Female
My boyfriend and I got engaged after 7yrs of dating. Right after we got engaged we started looking for a house (we were staying with his parents) and trying to really start our lives together. I ended up cheating on him with a coworker (by cheating we kissed a few times) in the mix of all of this and he found out right as we were getting ready to close on a house. He decided to move forward with me and the house because we knew we wanted to spend our lives together and with time we could rebuild the trust. Now we have lived in our house a month in a half and he says hes done. He cant forgive me and every day it gets worse. I dont know what to do.. I dont feel like he gave enough time to rebuild anything and now we have a house together. I moved back home with my parents and we plan on figuring out what to do with the house at a later time. I dont want our relationship to end I take complete blame for what I did and I know it cant be easily forgiven but is there any advice you can give to me to save my eight year relationship?
My advice is to leave your boyfriend alone and let him stew in his juices.
He is over-reacting to a common situation where one or the other of an engaged couple engages in mild to wild behavior and cheats. You are on the mild side.
Let your boyfriend think about this more and he quite possibly come to the conclusion that what you did was part of normal life. (Not that is is a recommended thing to do, but understandable).
Too bad he had to find out, otherwise life could go on without drama.
Good luck! George
