Age difference causes problems

I have been friends with this guy since 6 years ago, we only meet each summer for a month because he lives in another country, we have been bestfriends since 2 years ago but this year we became rlly close,he used to like this girl last year and went out with her in summer then they broke up and she asked him out this year again and he said yes but when we started getting closer and he used to hang out with me 24/7 we rlly got to know each other more, and we rlly feel comfortable and show our real selves, so at the sametime when we got closer he broke up with her and he told me as well as her tht he thinks she's not the one for him anymore though he used to like her a lot and he knows tht she still likes him...it's not like he's a jerk at all..but he said he just stopped liking her which made me think he might have feelings for me specially tht he rlly cares about me told me tht he thinks im rlly beautiful too:D and im the only one among his girl friends he calls and he never came to my country in winter and he might come this year for me:D, we r just perfect for each other , but the problem is tht he is 2 and a half years younger which makes both of us scared to take any step forward coz all of our friends would ruin the relationship...we never talked about being more than just bestfriends....but he's just so sweet with me and i think he's the perfect guy for me but im afraid of people's reaction and probably he feels the same though he never told me but his actions sometimes do, but we would be the laugh of the year:S, so i just wana ask is it worth the try coz i rlly think i wont ever find anyone more perfect for me and who cares tht way too, but i dont rlly like him now but its only beacuse im scared from the age difference:S but im just afraid i might lose him if i dont take a step...so wht do u think i should do?

Have you talked with him about this problem? If not, it's time to do so.
Since it is so important to you, discuss with him how he thinks things would go if you got together. What country would you live in... do you have a choice about the country? Maybe people in one country would be nicer than in the other.
You owe it to him to make this problem clear and discuss solutions and feelings. It sounds like he has strong feelings for you and you should not let this go on if you don't like him because of the age difference.
