Is the Sun Going Down On Me?

Visitor's Question from a 16-20 year old Male
Now this goes back to last year, and now its a fresh new year. There is a girl i like, and during valentines i gave her presents, and a month later to find out, well she has a boyfriend. After that seeing that, i decided to work on friendship, by being her bud, and on June i got her phone #, which i didn't use till 3 weeks afterwards. Now i held this birthday party and i wanted her to come, and she said she might, and she didn't (she went to another party, i phoned her 2 days after mine, and she said she had a good time and all) Now there is another guy who WAS at our school (left this year) and my locker was right next to mine. However, whenever he came by , it felt as though i was pushed aside. And before that, there was an affair with her brother and her friend, and i said that "Hey at least you got me as a friend" and it made her feel good. Now during the whole time ive known her that year, i was really nice, maybe overly nice, like constantly being a gentle man and offering to buy her stuff. Now roll around the last day of school, i asked if she wanted to hang out, and she said that she was busy. Ok fair enough, but that one guy comes around and once again i get pushed aside. AFter the exam i got no goodbyes or have a good summer (then again i said nothing to her either).

During the summer, i was asking friends for help. One of them said that i shouldn't give up on being her friend cause she would need me to straighten her out (while she is nice, and attractive, she smokes, drinks, partys alot, and does some drugs).

Yesterday i phoned her and we talked for abit, and she sounded kinda happy, after all it it was the first time i talked to her all summer. Today. her locker is no where near mine, and hers is in the middle of some of the popular guys (who i have no trouble getting along with). I talk to her abit in the halls, complimenting on her new hair style and asking about classes and all.

It's a new year, and i want to know if i should keep trying being her friend or not .....or does she even really need me?

Thank you for advice (sorry if it is long), Hermy.

RomanceClass.com Advice
My opinion is that she likes you as simply a friend.

If that is enough for you then enjoy it to its fullest.

If you want to go beyond friendship it appears that you have a big hill to climb since she has a boyfriend.

Good luck! George
