He told me he was relationship phobic but still loves me

Visitor's Question from a 31-40 year old Female
I was dating a school friend I met after 15 years. We were dating for a month plus. Everything was perfect. Then one day he made a plan to spend the day with me, but instead of showing up he disapeared. He replied to my message at the end of the day, saying he was ok & would talk to me the next day. Finally I forced it out of him and he said he loved me too much and because he always screwed up relationships he didnt want to hurt me because he cared. He said he was 'relationship phobic. He wants to be friends, but how can you just turn over and become friends. He says he still likes me a week and a half later...but now has started distancing himself slowly..I'm so confused I'm going mad because my insticts say I can work it out..but am afraid I might be reading the wrong signals..HELP!

RomanceClass.com Advice
He has been upfront with you.

Either he is telling you the truth about his fears, or he is letting you down easy. If you care, you could probably get him to tell.

My advice is to call him once a week and chat for 15 minutes. Keep the talk upbeat. If he wants more then you can make up your mind then.

Meanwhile there are many guys out there looking for a good woman just like you.

Good luck! George
